Weaving Afternoon with Rhian Wyman

We welcomed Rhian Wyman to school to talk to us about her work as a Weaver. She lives and works locally in the Forest of Dean and creates the most beautiful throws inspired by nature; that she told us takes days to make! She showed us pictures and videos of her loom and barn studio, explaining how she turns dyed lambs’ wool thread into woven products. She also explained to us about her education journey through university and apprenticeship; turning an art passion in to a weaving business.  Handwoven | Rhian Wyman Design | Gloucestershire

Inspired by Rhian, we enjoyed a weaving afternoon across school. Class Stream explored weaving a range of large frames, Class River created blue ocean scenes, Class Estuary created woven baskets and worked with Rhian to create a class piece on a loom, Class Ocean created natural landscapes. We shared our fantastic weaving in an exhibition at parents evening.
